I’m in the mood. I think I’ll share some photos from my road trip in Malaysia last Christmas. It was a short 5-day trip with my friends before I made another trip to Taipei to countdown to 2013 with my Taiwanese friends. No shots of faces will be shown.
We decided to make a trip up to Malaysia, up north. Christmas was approaching.
We drove through the night battling the zzzz bug and helping to keep driver B awake.
It dawned. We saw the same motivating highway signs telling us of our destination: 687km away.
We went past many tolls. Even running out of credits on the toll card in the middle of the nowhere. But we survived.
Owing to the wonderful design of the car, we managed to prank X by trapping him. By then, all of us were butt-hurt and loony from the 10 hour ride. Poor driver too.
First meal in George Town: a variety of street food i.e. fried noodles, rojak, grilled chicken wings…
We walked the streets, familiarizing ourselves with the area. The town was a reminiscence of a once laid back Singapore.
Push carts sellers went from street to street. This was a lady in her 50s pushing her already closed mobile store home.
We meet laid back animals on the streets, bored out from the heat.
The amount of food we ordered.
Headed to Gurney Paragon after dinner for some coffee.
Decided to grab dinner at the famous Gurney Drive which was supposedly a few kilometres away from hotel. Got drenched by rain, spotted a dead monitor lizard and arrived at a lesser known but equally good food destination Northam Beach Cafe.
The next morning, we drove to Kek Lok Si, the Temple of Supreme Bliss. It was the largest Buddhist Temple in Southeast Asia.
View of a temple below the hill.
Queued for tickets to an electric tram that took us to the top of the hill.
Statuesque.
View of Penang from the top.
